A supermarket poster caused some unplanned laughter in George Street.
The Waitrose poster was meant to say “you count” but a window frame was inconveniently placed to cause a somewhat ruder message.
Mark Jansen caught the poster on camera yesterday and caused a Twitter sensation as more than 10,000 people guffawed at the image.
He said: “I was walking along George Street to grab some lunch when I noticed the poster. It stopped me in my tracks and I started to look around me to see if anyone else had noticed the same
thing.
“Personally I found it absolutely hilarious and simply couldn’t walk past without snapping a photo.
“I tweeted the photo on Twitter as I thought people would find it amusing. I expected some followers might re-tweet the link but never expected it to go viral in the way it did having been seen by
tens of thousands of people.
“The retweets started off very slowly and then just went crazy with my phone beeping at me every few seconds. I had to turn off notifications on my phone to stop it from completely draining the
battery.”
A Waitrose spokesperson said: “We’re sorry for any offence caused. It was of course unintentional and the branch immediately moved the poster when this was brought to their attention.”
